Johnson Dental Goes to Peru!

Johnson Dental Peru Blog

Johnson Dental in PEru

Dr. Johnson and our lead assistant, Sarah Pacheco, have their passports up to date and they are studying Rosetta Stone lessons.  They are headed to Peru with the office of Dr. Bruce McArthur to do charity dentistry in the town of Cascas.  Dr. McArthur has done this trip for numerous years and we are honored that he invited us to join them.  This is a project close to the hearts of Dr. McArthur's office and you can see his blog here:

The facilities are pretty rustic and travel to Cascas is not easy.  We will be documenting the journey and sharing it with you as time goes on.  We will also be starting an additional blog showing pictures and sharing stories of the people we help.  It will mostly be dentistry that helps people stay comfortable.

Johnson Dental in Peru!

The trip will take place in June and we are already planning for it and packing some materials and supplies away.  We will keep you posted as plans develop.

Johnson Dental and the whole team feel fortunate to be able to participate in such a good thing and to provide charity dentistry to those who have limited resources.

Our Service to the Community

Dr. Johnson believes in supporting the community.  Currently, the Johnson Dental Team are preparing for their third time at the Colorado Mission of Mercy.

The Colorado Mission of Mercy (COMOM) is a dental clinic in which portable dental stations are set up in a large public arena, and dental screenings and services are provided at no charge to those who attend. COMOM combines the donated services of hundreds of dentists, dental hygienists, dental assistants and an array of volunteers to provide these free dental clinics.

The 2009 Brighton COMOM will build on the dental clinics conducted in 2007 in Alamosa, Colorado, and in 2008 in Loveland, Colorado.

In Loveland alone:
Nearly 900 volunteers provided
1,411 patients with
$1,181,400 in donated dental care
in two days.

That's a lot of numbers and a lot of smiles!
